Get To Know The City Of Princeton, TX

Princeton Texas map

Part of Collin County, Princeton TX is a small city with a population of fewer than 10,000 people. This area of The Metroplex was originally referred to as Wilson’s Switch, a name given to it in honor of the founding farmers, two brothers that inhabited the land in the 1870s. When Wilson’s Switch became a city in 1888, it was renamed Princeton, Texas.

The city is known for its annual Princeton Onion Festival. Originating in 2005, the event is held in April every year on the 4th Saturday. One of the top attractions in the city is Old Rooster Creek Flea Markets & RV Parks. It is located at 10460 County Road 1099. Not only do you find good deals at the flea market, but good food is served up there, too, including authentic Mexican food. The grounds are cute, and you can set up camp there, too.

Other notable places of interest in Princeton, TX include Community Park/WWII POW Camp, Future Flight, and Heritage Hill Equestrian Center. Heritage Hill Equestrian Center is located at 8882 County Road 392. Your entire family can ride horses together. The staff are very friendly and patiently guide new riders. Kids especially would enjoy this new adventure.

Three of the best restaurants in the area include Jocy’s Restaurant, Las Rocas Mexican Cocina, and Infernos Woodfired Oven & Spirits. Infernos Woodfired Oven & Spirits is located at 670 West Princeton Drive Suite 100. The barbecue pizza is among the menu highlights, and they also serve up some mean jalapeno poppers.

Other notable restaurants in Princeton include Sotenbori, Jordan’s Bar-B-Que, and Rivera’s Salvadoran Tex Mex. Princeton’s leadership has struggled fiscally in past decades, and the city’s balance sheet is still recovering. Every city has its story, and Princeton’s is not one of death and taxes. The popular suburb of Dallas is quite a cozy place for families.
